ZenseTag: An RFID assisted Twin-Tag Single Antenna COTS Sensor Interface
Published in Proceedings of the 22nd ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems (SenSys '24), 2024
ZenseTag is a fully passive, miniaturized, flexible sensor interface that reads and communicates analog sensor data directly at radio frequencies. It exploits resonance, where a sensor’s terminal impedance is most sensitive to the measured stimulus at its resonant frequency, so the tag can read sensor variation using only energy harvested from wireless signals.
- A 15x10 mm flexible PCB connects sensors to a printed antenna and passive RFID ICs, with near real-time readout through GUI-enabled software.
- Demonstrated with commercial force, soil-moisture, and photodiode sensors.
- Earned all five ACM artifact evaluation badges: available, functional, reusable, results reproduced, and results replicated.
