SenSync: Real-Time and Accurate Passive Sensing

Published in 2025 IEEE International Conference on RFID (IEEE RFID '25), 2025

Winner of the Best Paper Award at IEEE RFID 2025.

SenSync tackles key challenges in RFID-based differential sensing: temporal misalignment, phase ambiguity, and environmental sensitivity. It introduces algorithms and signal processing techniques that align and interpret time-shifted data from multiple ICs, along with a user interface that automatically detects sensors in the field and displays their readings in real time.

  • 5x faster sensory resolution through improved data alignment and robustness.
  • 0.79° median differential phase error under dynamic conditions.
  • 8x higher RFID read throughput from a custom data-collection platform.
